Week of October 16th Jellyroll Part 2

Yes, I am using a Jellyroll song as part of this devotion for the second week in a row. No, I don’t always listen to him and nor do I agree with all his lyrics or everything he says, but I love all kinds of music and the messages that can be conceived. In the song entitled “Save Me” the chorus says the following:

I’m a lost cause

Don’t waste you time on me

I’m so damaged beyond repair

Life has shattered my hopes and my dreams

First of all, this is wrong when it comes to God’s love for us. We are never damaged beyond repair for God to make us what He wants us to be. Too many times we think we have so many bad things in our lives that even God can’t forgive us. That all our wrongdoings and our mistakes leave us in a life without a way out.

You may not know but there a lot of “books” in the Bible that are letters written by a man named Paul. One of those letters is to his friend Timothy. In I Timothy verse 15, Paul talks about how Jesus came into the world to save sinners and that he (Paul) was the worst of them. In verse 16 he talks about God’s grace and his extraordinary patience. What you may not know is what Paul had done in the past. A few verses, in verse 13, Paul described himself a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an arrogant man. But he received mercy because he acted out of ignorance in unbelief. Are you ready to know what Paul did?

We know that before Paul became to know Christ, Paul (known as Saul then) actively sought to destroy the church and persecuted Christians. You can read about this is in the book of Acts chapter 9. Yes, you read that correctly, the man that wrote just about half of the New Testament of the Bible once persecuted Christians. God grace was sufficient for all of that, it is certainly more than enough for mistakes you have made. You are NOT damaged beyond repair!!!!! God has a plan for you, all you must do is seek Him out.

Challenge for the week: Stop reminding yourself of mistakes you made. Stop making the same mistake, ask for forgiveness and let it go!

Congratulations to the members of the Meek Band of Champions in receiving superior ratings and best in class awards in the competition this week.
